The Budgerigar

A most beautiful bird it is, with
a neck and breast in yellow and green,
scalloped markings on its back and wings,
and fine feathers with a lovely sheen.

It has a small parrot-like beak,
strongly curved like a little sharp hook,
and a short or long parrot-like tail,
giving it a mini parrot look.

This cute bird as a parakeet
is also universally known,
and it feeds on different seeds
and also healthy cuttle-fish bone.

It's bright, very playful, and fearless,
makes a most welcome family pet,
Its funny antics a joy to watch,
And it can also play with the cat.
