Sunset Peace
I love to sit on a quiet beach,
And watch the sleepy evening sun,
Sink slowly into the lonely sea,
When all its daily work is done.
I like to observe invading waves,
Growing steadily more and more,
These whispering crests so foamy white,
Gently racing towards the shore.
I enjoy the sounds of seagulls' cries,
(They seem to grumble as they fly),
Watching these birds dashing back and forth,
Lowly outlined against the sky.
I let the colours of every hue,
Which the slow dimming sun does sow,
Transport me to many moments' joy,
To the peace and beauty that I know.
